In the last morning of 2007
In Rainbows
I bought Radiohead’s new album “In Rainbows”. The album was made available from their website last week and no price was specified (everyone pays as much as he/she wants). Quite nice, I have to say. And it seems to have become really popular among internet users: the album has occupied all the top-10 positions of LastFM’s chart for this week.
New favorite movie
Last weekend I found the time to watch some movies I postponed seeing for a while. They were “300″, “Casino Royale” and “Star Wars III”. The first one, “300″, I found it rather good, although not as moving as I expected when I saw its first trailer. “Star Wars III”, I think could have been much better. I am not a Star Wars fan (I have not seen the episodes IV-VI), but I had read a little about the story. So I expected something “deeper” or more convincing for Anakin’s turn to the dark side. Still, the film left me the will to see the rest of the episodes.
The movie that really surprised me positively was “Casino Royale“. Partly because things were certainly more down to earth than previous James Bond films. And partly because an important part of the movie was actually devoted to James Bond’s character, to which Daniel Craig fits perfect. Eva Green did very well on her part, too. Finally, I consider its opening scene to be one of the best I’ve seen.
UofT campus looks nice
My new guitar
Walter
A very short film we created for fun with some friends. It was created in less than 40 hours for a short film contest.
Toronto is hot - Daft Punk are cool
It’s so hot and humid these days in Toronto. So let me grab an iced coffee, put Daft Punk’s “Discovery” on the stereo and lie on the sofa…Yeeeeeeeeeessssssss….
Watchmen
I just finished reading Watchmen, a graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. I am not a fan of this kind of art, but this piece of work was surprisingly deeper and more complex than I expected. At least comparing it with Sin City or 300. Definitely needs and deserves a second reading.
PS: Favorite character: Rorschach.
Bittersweet memories
While playing around with Youtube, I fell upon a song I used to like. One year ago, I used to listen to this song again and again. I learned it on the guitar. I played it while watching the video.
It was only one year ago. But there are so many things that have changed since then. I don’t think I like it anymore. Together with so many other things that I left behind.
After the crash
My first term at UofT was a big crash test and I’m delighted it ended well.

These days, I enjoy my morning walk to the campus. The city is covered with snow and this is certainly something you can’t see in Crete or Athens that often (actually it almost never snowed in Crete in the past decades).

I have the feeling that something exciting will come up this semester. An exciting scientific quest???
Why not?
