Τα μπάλωσε ο Χάρπερ…

Είναι και ότι έχουμε πολύ πέραση οι Έλληνες του Καναδά, αλλά είναι και η ατυχής δήλωση που είχε κάνει τις προάλλες ο Στ. Χάρπερ, πρωθυπουργός του Καναδά και τώρα τα μπαλώνει λίγο.

Από την Καθημερινή: «Είμαι ευτυχής να στείλω τους χαιρετισμούς μου σε όλους τους Καναδούς Ελληνικής καταγωγής. Γιορτάζοντας την ημέρα της Ελληνικής Ανεξαρτησίας, γιορτάζουμε τη Δημοκρατία». (Υποθέτω δεν το είπε στα ελληνικά).

And then the plane, that was flying from Toronto to London, made an emergency landing. For some reason, I find it touching.

Half the population of Toronto and one out of five people in the country are foreign-born, according to the latest (2006) Canadian census. Regarding tolerance in a multicultural society, there is no doubt that few nations have done better than Canada. However, the news does not come without a raised concern about the limits of a policy that Canada has consistently followed for the past forty years.
